Anyone who has harvested with a grain or flex header has seen crop hesitate in front of the auger. The reel places crop in the space in front of the auger, relying on subsequent crop to push it into the auger. This crop hesitation results in slugging, reel carry-over, and slower harvest speeds. This gap between the reel and the auger has frustrated operators and manufacturers since the introduction of the reel.
HCC, Inc. has closed that gap between the reel and the auger with a revolutionary reel design that positively places crop into the auger, providing true continuous crop flow. The Orbit Reel is the first reel design to bring the tines right up to the auger.
With 10 years of development, HCC has found the solution to providing continuous crop flow. The old-fashioned circular metal reel design has been replaced with a durable polymer double-track system. The Orbit Reel's unique shape allows the reel tines to break from their conventional circular path and swing directly past the auger. That pushes crop directly into the auger, rather than drop it on the header floor where the build-up will eventually push its way to the back. As a result, no more heavy build-up, and no more slowing down to handle tough crops.
